Everything else on this page assumes someone local to receive, collect or pay. Ordering over WhatsApp in Spanish is normal here and not a sign of an amateur operation; several of these workshops have no other order channel.
What address to give
This is where deliveries fail, and it has nothing to do with the cake.
Many Barcelona buildings have no doorman. A bakery van running a route will not wait, and will rarely come back the same day. A workplace, a hotel reception, a co-working desk or a neighbour who is definitely in beats an empty flat, however correct the address.
If the recipient lives in a building with an interfono and no concierge, tell the bakery — most will phone ahead if asked, but they will not think of it on their own.

Why 48 hours is not a commercial excuse

The houses advertising shorter notice are almost always working from a closed catalogue — a fixed range they can build ahead — rather than taking a free commission. That is a different product, not a faster version of the same one.
El Fornet is the only house here with a 24-hour lead time on part of its range, and it publishes the lowest prices: a cream Swiss roll from 15,05 euros, 500-gram cakes at 18,95 to 22,25, and one-kilo cakes at 35,65 to 41,10.

The four same-day options
None of them is a custom cake, and that is the trade-off.
The display case. Historic pastry shops like La Colmena on Plaça de l’Àngel 12 and Foix de Sarrià keep finished cakes in the window — truffle, Sacher, mousse, millefeuille — and will add a candle and a name in chocolate. You choose from what exists rather than designing anything.
Glovo. Sana Locura delivers within Barcelona through the courier app, which is the only genuinely immediate route.
Sweet Tuca, which can deliver the same day, though it runs from Rubí rather than the city.
An ice cream cake instead, which sidesteps the setting problem altogether. The dairy-free versions are in vegan ice cream.
