Visitors arrive expecting a city that eats at midnight and find that the kitchens shut before the bars do. The establishment census lists 1,289 restaurants and fast-food places with published hours in Barcelona, and the count falls away hour by hour: 594 at midnight, 229 at 1am, 97 at 2am, 41 at 3am, three at 4am and one at 5am. That last one is Mirablau, on Plaça del Doctor Andreu beside the Tibidabo funicular, open until 5am on Friday and Saturday. At the other end of the clock, Nogal at Carrer de la Diputació 412 opens at 5am and closes at 3am, twenty-two hours straight, every day.
Where can you eat late at night in Barcelona? Forty-one places serve past 3am and only three past 4am: Mirablau, on Plaça del Doctor Andreu, which runs to 5am at weekends, BBQ Express at Avinguda de Sarrià 33 and Ayres del Sur, which does not open until 1am. Carrer de Tuset has three in a row until 3am.
How many kitchens are left at each hour
The shape of the drop is what catches people out. Midnight still leaves 594 options, close to half of everything with published hours. By 1am that is 229, just over one in six, and by 2am it is 97.
The hard cut sits between 1am and 2am, where more than half of what remains disappears. The same thing happens again between 2am and 3am, leaving 41. Barcelona’s real late-night map is about forty addresses, which is far too few to find by wandering.
For a visitor this matters more than for a local, because the obvious central streets empty out first. Pair the closing time with the night bus and metro, and note that a T-casual covers the night buses too, before deciding how far from the bed the last plate is going to be. Walking back through the old town at that hour is the other half of the decision, and the safety guide by area covers which streets stay busy.
The night hour by hour
The timeline is the quickest way to read a night out here. Midnight and 1am are still an open choice, with 594 and 229 kitchens running. 2am, at 97, is where the address has to be picked in advance. And past 4am the city comes down to one door on a hill.
The places that run furthest
Mirablau is the outlier in every sense. It sits above the city on Plaça del Doctor Andreu, reached by the Tibidabo funicular or by taxi, and its census hours step up through the week: 3:30am Monday to Wednesday, 4:30am on Thursday and 5am on Friday and Saturday.
The other two that pass 4am are ordinary street-level places. BBQ Express, at Avinguda de Sarrià 33, grills burgers from 7:30pm to 4am every day. Ayres del Sur, at Carrer de Casp 151, is the strangest entry in the census: it does not open until 1am and closes at 4am, so it exists only for that window.
Below them sit the 3am group, which is what actually carries the night: Nogal at Diputació 412, El Charrito at Diputació 233 from 6am to 3am, Guru Bcn at Carrer de Josep Anselm Clavé 19 from 5pm to 3am, and Bismillah Pizzeria at Avinguda del Paral·lel 77 and SUARNA at Carrer de Llançà 1, both open from 6am.
What is open and until when
| Place | Hours | Address | Neighbourhood |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mirablau | Mon–Wed 11am–3:30am; Thu to 4:30am; Fri–Sat 10am–5am | Plaça del Doctor Andreu | Sant Gervasi - la Bonanova |
| BBQ Express | 7:30pm–4am daily | Avinguda de Sarrià 33 | la Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample |
| Ayres del Sur | 1am–4am daily | Carrer de Casp 151 | el Fort Pienc |
| Nogal | 5am–3am daily | Carrer de la Diputació 412 | el Fort Pienc |
| El Charrito | 6am–3am | Carrer de la Diputació 233 | l’Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample |
| Bismillah Pizzeria | 6am–2:30am; Fri and Sat to 3am | Avinguda del Paral·lel 77 | el Poble-sec |
| SUARNA | 6am–2:30am; weekends to 3am | Carrer de Llançà 1 | Sant Antoni |
| Guru Bcn | 5pm–3am daily | Carrer de Josep Anselm Clavé 19 | el Gòtic |
| El Xulo | 10am–3am | Pas de Sota Muralla 7 | Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera |
| Buen Bocado | 1pm–3am | Carrer d’Avinyó 58 | el Gòtic |
| HOT Frankfurt | to 3am | Passeig del Born 26 | Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera |
| La Pizza del Born | to 3am | Passeig del Born 22 | Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera |
| Ajoblanco, Feroz and Gaia | to 3am | Carrer de Tuset 20-24, 27 and 30 | Sant Gervasi - Galvany |
The first two columns settle the night. The address only matters once everything that closes before the plan ends has been crossed off.
What food you can actually get after 2am
This is the part that surprises people who arrive expecting late Spanish dinners. Past 2am the kitchens still running are not doing menus: they are doing burgers, kebab, pizza, hot dogs and Mexican, plus a handful of tapas bars that stretch their hours.
- Burgers — BBQ Express, Avinguda de Sarrià 33, to 4am; McDonald’s, Ronda de Sant Pere 3, to 3am.
- Pizza — La Pizza del Born, at Passeig del Born 22 and Carrer de Ferran 41; Dues Sicilies, Carrer del Rec Comtal 4.
- Kebab — Istanbul Grill, in the Born; Trieste Horta, Carrer del Tajo 54-52.
- Hot dogs — HOT Frankfurt, Passeig del Born 26.
- Chicken — KFC, Avinguda de Gaudí 2.
- Tapas that stretch — El Xulo, Pas de Sota Muralla 7, to 3am; Buen Bocado, Carrer d’Avinyó 58, to 3am.
A proper sit-down dinner is a midnight decision, not a 3am one. If that is what you want, the wider window before midnight is covered by Barcelona at night and by the nightlife bars guide, where there is still a choice of table.
The streets with more than one option
Three streets in Barcelona have several late kitchens within a few metres, which is what rescues a night when the first door is full or has shut early.
Carrer de Tuset, in Sant Gervasi, has Ajoblanco at 20-24, Feroz at 27 and Gaia at 30 within three doors of each other, open to 3am. Over in the Born, HOT Frankfurt at Passeig del Born 26 and La Pizza del Born at 22 are a minute apart, with Dues Sicilies at Carrer del Rec Comtal 4 just behind. Between Plaça Sant Jaume and the Ramblas, Maoz at Carrer de Ferran 13, La Pizza del Born at 41 and Wok To Go at 5 make the third cluster.
Everywhere else the addresses stand alone, and the margin for error disappears. Most of them are in Ciutat Vella, which is also where most visitors sleep, so the walk back is short.
Choosing by the hour your night ends
If the night ends before 1am, there is no problem: 229 places are still serving and the neighbourhood is the only question. Between 1am and 2am the list drops to 97 and a specific address starts to matter.
After 2am there are 41, and the reliable ones are Nogal, El Charrito, Guru Bcn, the Tuset trio and the two on the Paral·lel. After 4am the whole city comes down to Mirablau, and only on Friday and Saturday.
None of these places publishes prices and none takes bookings at that hour: you walk in and ask at the counter.
Late-night eating in Barcelona is not something you find, it is something you decide before you leave.
And if what you need at that hour is a chemist rather than a meal, only seven are open across the whole city: the 24-hour pharmacies run from La Rambla 98 to Passeig de Maragall 177.
Where each one is
The 41 addresses past 3am are unevenly spread. Ciutat Vella holds most of them, on Avinyó, Heures, Ferran, Sota Muralla and Josep Anselm Clavé; Sant Gervasi contributes the three on Tuset; and the Paral·lel adds Bismillah at 77 and Ikibana at 148. Mirablau sits on its own, up at Plaça del Doctor Andreu, a funicular ride above the city and the only address in the list that is not walkable from the centre.
If the answer is groceries rather than a kitchen, 51 supermarkets stay open around the clock, 22 of them in three Eixample neighbourhoods.
Before midnight the day of the week decides more than the hour: 669 restaurants serve dinner on Sunday and 707 on Monday, against 918 on a Friday.
Frequently asked questions about late night food in Barcelona

Where can you eat at 3am in Barcelona?
Forty-one places run past 3am. Among them are Guru Bcn at Carrer de Josep Anselm Clavé 19, open 5pm to 3am daily; Buen Bocado at Carrer d’Avinyó 58; El Xulo at Pas de Sota Muralla 7; Nogal at Carrer de la Diputació 412; and the three in a row on Carrer de Tuset.
