Picture Black Friday, but for dinner. For one week in November, hundreds of Barcelona bars and restaurants each put a single deal on the table: a glass of wine and a gilda for 5 euros instead of 8, a weekend set menu for 29.50 euros instead of 41.50, two pizzas with desserts and wine for 49 euros. Foodie Black Week BCN is a seven-day food promotion in which Barcelona venues offer exclusive menus and discounts from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 November. This is its fourth edition, created by restaurateur Marc Miramontes, presented on 6 October at the Mirador Torre Glòries and the first to reach the towns around the city.
What is Foodie Black Week Barcelona? A seven-day restaurant promotion running 9 to 15 November, in which each participating Barcelona venue offers its own one-off deal, from a 6-euro drink and tapa to 45 and 55-euro tasting menus. Earlier editions drew more than 450 venues and 200,000 diners. There is no ticket: you search foodieblackweek.com and book the venue directly.
Is Foodie Black Week worth it if you are visiting Barcelona
If your trip already falls between 9 and 15 November, the week is worth it, but it is not a reason to book flights. The savings come from one dish or menu per venue, from 2.50 euros off a bar deal to 24 euros off a weekend menu for two, not from a discount on the whole bill.
The real value for a visitor is discovery. Every offer is built for that week and must differ from the venue’s usual menu, so it doubles as a curated tasting of what each place does best. The fixed price also takes the guesswork out of ordering in a city where menus are often only in Spanish or Catalan.
One caveat: the week opens on a Monday, and plenty of Barcelona restaurants close on Mondays. Check the listing before heading out, and keep the guide to restaurants open on Sunday and Monday as a fallback.
How the deals work and what they cost
The organisers state that taking part is free “for both the restaurateur and the customer”, with no commissions, so the price on the listing is what you pay. Offers fall into five price brackets on the official search, from under 15 euros to over 60 euros.
The three biggest savings in euros are at La Patum Tapes & Més in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a weekend menu for two cut from 41.50 to 29.50 euros a head; Mammatina in Sant Boi de Llobregat, two pizzas, two desserts and wine for 49 euros instead of 62; and Bar Marcel Santaló in Sant Gervasi, a tapas selection with two beers for 19 euros instead of 29.
| Price bracket on the search | Typical Foodie offer | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Under 15 euros | Drink and tapa for 5 to 7 euros, pizza slice and drink for 9.50 euros | A bar crawl with several stops |
| 15 to 30 euros | Tapas selection with two beers for 19 euros, steak and wine menu for 25 euros | A casual dinner |
| 30 to 60 euros | Tasting menus at 45 and 55 euros, set dinners for two | A date night |
| Over 60 euros | Long tasting menu at 80 euros, booked 48 hours ahead | A special occasion |
On 14 October, 16 of the 38 published deals sat in the cheapest bracket. If you are travelling on a budget, that is where the week shines: three or four drink-and-tapa offers make a full evening for around 20 to 25 euros.

When to look and when to book
Venues can sign up for free until 30 October, so the official map keeps filling until then; many early listings still read “Se está cociendo la oferta”, Spanish for “the offer is still cooking”. The best moment to plan is the first week of November, once the list is near complete. Keep local hours in mind when booking: lunch runs from 2pm and dinner from 9pm, so a 7pm table is early by Barcelona standards and easy to get.
How to book without speaking Spanish
The official search on foodieblackweek.com is in Spanish, but every listing follows the same layout, so five words are enough to use it. Each card shows the venue’s address, phone number, website, a link to the menu (“Ver carta”) and a “Reserva” button that opens the restaurant’s own booking system.
| Spanish on the listing | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Reserva | Book with the venue directly, through its own system |
| Ver carta | The regular menu, useful to compare with the deal |
| Se está cociendo la oferta | The venue has joined but not posted its deal yet |
| Orientativo | Indicative price, confirmed when you order |
| Reserva mínima 48h | Book at least 48 hours ahead |
| x 2 pax | Price or menu for two people |
When you arrive, say “vengo por la oferta Foodie” or show the listing on your phone, since staff need to know you want the special. Tipping is not expected beyond rounding up the bill, and tap water is free on request. A WhatsApp button on each card sends the offer to the rest of your group.
Which central neighbourhoods have the most offers
The Eixample and Ciutat Vella hold most of the deals: of the 24 Barcelona venues with a published offer on 14 October, 10 are in the Eixample district and 4 in Ciutat Vella, all within 400 metres of a metro stop. The filter lists 24 Barcelona zones, so you can search by the area around your hotel.
For a night out on foot, the Eixample is the strongest base, with the Eixample tapas bars for the stops in between. Ciutat Vella suits an early crawl from 7pm, and where to eat in El Raval covers its wider scene. To choose a base, see Barcelona’s best neighbourhoods to visit.
This year the week also reaches 66 towns outside the city, among them Sitges, which makes the Foodie a good excuse for a day trip to Sitges with lunch included.

Zaragoza, the guest city, explained
Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon and a direct high-speed train ride west of Barcelona, is this edition’s guest city, holding the title of UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Its cooking is inland and hearty, and the dishes to look for are ternasco (young roast lamb), borage, migas (fried breadcrumbs with pork), longaniza sausage and snails Aragonese style.
Zaragoza Turismo wants Barcelona restaurants with Aragonese roots to cook with produce from Zaragoza and Aragon during the 7 days. The search has 32 cuisine filters but no “Aragonese” one, so read the offer text, where each venue names its dishes.
The organisers also back World Central Kitchen, the food-relief group founded by chef José Andrés. For the rest of your trip, the guides to the daily cost of a Barcelona trip, the best tapas in Barcelona and the best cocktail bars cover what the Foodie leaves out.
Foodie Black Week Barcelona questions
Is Foodie Black Week Barcelona worth it for tourists?
Foodie Black Week Barcelona is worth it if you are already in the city between 9 and 15 November: deals start around 5 to 6 euros for a drink and tapa, and most venues cluster in the Eixample and Ciutat Vella, where visitors stay. It is not a reason to fly in, since offers are single dishes or menus, not citywide discounts.
Do I need tickets or an app for Foodie Black Week Barcelona?
No. The Barcelona food week has no tickets, wristbands, coupons or app. You find an offer on foodieblackweek.com, filtered by area, cuisine and price, then book directly with the restaurant by phone, on its website or through its own booking page. The organisers state it is free for both venues and customers, with no commissions.
Can I book Foodie Black Week offers without speaking Spanish?
Yes. Each Foodie Black Week listing has a Reserva button that opens the restaurant’s own booking system, plus a phone number, website and menu link. When booking or ordering, say you came for the Foodie offer, or show the listing on your phone, because the deal differs from the normal menu.
The week rewards the visitor who plans seven days ahead, not the one who walks in hoping for a discount.
